Calling a Representative

  1. Use the Find Your Lawmakers link provided to locate your Representative’s phone number.
  2. Identify yourself as a constituent and ask to leave a brief message for the Representative explaining your support for the Civil War Battlefield Preservation Act of 2007 (H.R. 2933) and urging the member to sign on as a cosponsor.

“Please tell Representative ____________ that I support H.R. 2933, the Civil War Battlefield Preservation Act of 2007, and I strongly urge him/her to sign on as a cosponsor on this important piece of legislation.  This bill is designed to provide much needed federal matching grants for the preservation of Civil War battlefields, without which our nation’s historic battlefields run the risk of being paved over and lost forever.  With the 150th anniversary of the war approaching, this legislation is more important than ever.  Thank you for your time, and please let the Congressman/Congresswoman know that I urge him/her to cosponsor H.R. 2933.”
